Community Health Systems Medical Assistant in Granite City, Illinois


Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Typically reports to supervisor or manager.


Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Display ability to read and understand written data. Display good verbal communication skills. Data entry skills required. Medical background preferred including phlebotomy, drug screening, and document handling.

Experience: Graduate of an accredited MA program. Computer and telephone skills required. Able to demonstrate effective operation of the department specific equipment (breath Alcohol collection device). Verbalize understanding of filing systems, document organization and handling.

Licenses/Certificates: Diploma or Certificate in as Medical Assistant. Certificate or proof of a program of instruction in phlebotomy and administering injections. Certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) and Certified Professional Collector (CPC DATIA preferred) If not currently certified in drug testing, must become certified within 45 days of hire.
