The Boeing Company Engineer - Mechanical Support Equipment Design - Early Career in Saint Louis, Missouri
The Boeing Company’s Boeing Global Services (BGS) organization is looking for a highly motivated Support Equipment Design Engineer (Level 2) to join the team in St. Louis, MO. This team is responsible for a wide-range of airframe and subsystem support equipment, such as equipment handling, testing, repair, and air vehicle interface of many systems including airframe/structure, hydraulics, flight controls, power systems, fuel, armament, environmental control systems, landing gear, and all other mechanical interfaces with the air vehicle. This position will support the design, development, fabrication, and testing of support equipment for the F/A-18, F-15 and various other military aircraft platforms. Work environment is primarily office, with visits to suppliers and military bases on occasion.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Your duties as a design engineer will include, but are not limited to: • Create new 3-dimensional layouts for a wide variety of mechanical support equipment (SE) in Unigraphics NX • Perform detail design development and modification of airframe / structural and fluid system components and assemblies • Make engineering design decisions on materials, material processes, finishes, components, and assembly • Modify or develop and release detail designs, via model based definition or 2-D drawings and parts lists via Teamcenter • Support internal, informal peer reviews and formal design reviews with USAF and USN customers, as needed • Perform technical support of manufacturing / fabrication, typically at local suppliers, as needed. • Assist in informal and formal testing of support equipment, including aircraft and/or component physical and functional interface, as needed • Work independently with advisement from other engineers

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering • Two or more years of experience working in engineering • Experience with mechanical engineering design • Experience with Unigraphics NX • Knowledge of fabrication methods for mechanical hardware, such as machining, welding, processing and assembly • Experience with releasing mechanical engineering drawings and/or drawing changes in Teamcenter • Experience working with cross-functional teams • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime
• Engineering degree is required; Mechanical or aerospace degree is a plus • Experience in support equipment design • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, if needed
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
